Signage Wall & Wellbeing Garden — British Sugar, Wissington Factory

Client: British Sugar
Project Duration: Phase 1: 2023 | Phase 2: 2024
Location: Wissington Factory, UK

Project Overview
This two-phase Design & Build project combined site branding with staff wellbeing, transforming an industrial setting into a visually engaging and restorative environment.

Phase 1 — Signage Wall (2023):
Constructed a bold signage wall from new timber sleepers, built into a soil mound made from the client’s own product.
A key challenge was curing the wall to safely support the weight of the soil while maintaining a clean, precise finish.
The result is a striking branded landmark that integrates naturally with the landscape.

Phase 2 — Wellbeing Garden (2024):
Developed a small factory garden adjacent to the signage, using hardy, low-maintenance plants to withstand site conditions.
Designed to provide staff with a quiet, restorative space supporting mental health and daily wellbeing.

Project Highlights:
Seamless integration of branding, material, and landscape design.
Innovative use of client-produced soil and new timber sleepers for sustainability and site relevance.
Durable, low-maintenance solution enhancing both visual impact and staff wellbeing.
